Passport 2 Employment

What is P2E?

The Passport 2 Employment program (P2E) was originally developed Glenelg and Southern Grampians Local Learning and Employment Network and the Glenelg Transition Action Network to support school students living with a disability or other challenges overcome barriers to participating in their community and the workforce.

The P2E program focuses on improving communication and life skills needed for employment, as well as supporting students to explore pathways into further education and get involved in the local community. P2E is a hands-on workshop style program, run weekly between an 8 – 11 week period during the school term. It is supported by a network of local disability, education and community service providers.

Central Grampians LLEN first introduced P2E in 2025. The program has supported Skene Street Specialist School students with their transition from school to further education, employment and community participation.

Week 1: Meet and Greet

Students are introduced to the program and fellow participants in a fun way. Activities focus on team building and getting comfortable in the environment.

Week 2: You’ve Got the Look

This session is all about presentation skills and the importance of first impressions. Students have the opportunity to hit the shops and select an outfit appropriate for a job interview or their P2E graduation.

Week 3: You’ve Got the Skills

Students explore general employability skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, initiative and enterprise, planning and organising, self-management, learning and technology.

Week 4: Healthy and Wealthy

An overview of budgeting and ways to lead a healthy lifestyle, encompassing nutrition and regular exercise.

Week 5: Accessing Support and Transport

Designed to help students overcome transport barriers through an ‘Amazing Race’ activity in the local business area. The goal is to familiarise students with agencies that provide support and assistance for the future.

Week 6: Workplace Tour

The P2E group visits a local industry to develop an understanding and awareness of a local industry’s inner workings. The tour focuses on areas that could appeal to students in their career planning.

Week 7: Putting it all Together

Students further explore planning for the transition from school to work, looking more closely at career options. They also have the chance to gain confidence by participating in a mock interview with a panel of industry representatives.

Week 8: Graduation

Students are presented with their P2E completion certificates at an official graduation ceremony!
