What is DroneEd?

DroneEd is an interactive classroom lesson that exposes secondary students to local industries that utilise drones and other advanced technology in their day-to-day operations. CGLLEN developed DroneEd to build on the success that VIC VICE has achieved using technology to engage students. The program is designed to showcase the diverse pathway options available to students post school, provide technology-related skills and knowledge and create meaningful connections between local students and employers.

DroneEd is launching in Term 4 2026. The program was successfully piloted with a group of Year 8 students in September and received overwhelmingly positive feedback:

– 100% of participants said they were more interested in drones after completing the session

– 100% of participants said the session had inspired them to consider different industries or career pathways

– Students said they enjoyed being part of a team and working together during the practical activities

– Students said they were surprised that these jobs were available in their communities

DroneEd combines videos of local industry professionals with hands-on learning to increase student awareness of the capabilities of drones. Featured industries include:
